How to Use Short-Form Video to Promote your Podcast

If you’ve been on social media for any period of time over the last 2 years you probably already know that short-form video is the best way to reach a large audience.

Services such as Tiktok, Instagram Reels and Youtube Shorts have blown up over the past couple of years and for good reason… it’s engaging content. I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel I’ve learned more useful information from tiktok than I did in my entire education… kidding! (but am I?)

So how can you utilize short form video for to promote your Podcast? Let’s look at a few ways:

  1. Share clips from your podcast

This one is pretty obvious. If you aren’t already sharing some top moments from each episode this is where you should start. By giving a snippet of what listeners can expect from your show, and they like it, you can get them to listen to your podcast as well.

When sharing these clips to Tiktok, Instagram or Youtube be sure to trim the clip down. You’ll want the video to be 30 seconds or less in most cases.

You should also add some visuals to make your clip more engaging. Think about adding captions, gifs, music or emojis to your clip.

2. Share teasers for your next episode

Short-form video is one of the best methods for letting people know you have a show releasing soon. Think of all the artists who are utilizing these services to promote their upcoming songs or albums. You can do the same for your podcast!

Similar to the advice above, you’ll want to jazz up your teaser to be engaging for the audience. Be sure to include a link to where viewers can go listen to your show and let them know when to expect the episode.

3. Use behind the scenes video

This is a method I would personally LOVE to see more of. This is a great way to give your audience a glimpse into how your show comes to life. This content will also have your audience feel a closer sense of connection with you.

Don’t try scripting or posing anything here. “Real life content” is the rage these days as people crave genuine connection. Be yourself and let your personality shine through. Any mistakes wrapped up in humor will make these types of video perform better.

4. Share tips and experiences

On TikTok, Youtube and Instagram it’s important to establish trustworthiness with you. By sharing tips and experiences you become more credible.

There are endless possibilities for what you can share in this category and it does not necessarily have to relate directly to your show.

In Conclusion

If you aren’t using Tiktok, Reels and Shorts to promote your podcasts, you are missing out on potentially getting your show in front of thousands of new faces. As long as you stay curious and creative you can expect success.
